Q: How does self-storage work?

COMSTOR Self Storage offers flexible, do-it-yourself storage for domestic and business customers. We provide clean, dry, individual storage spaces, access to which is available free of charge seven days a week. Your space (from a small 5×10 to a large 12×40) is locked with your own padlock, ensuring that only you have access to your things. Don’t worry if you do not have your own padlock, we sell a full range in our office.

Q: What is the minimum time I can store with you?

Our minimum storage period is 1 month.

Q: Can I transfer to another unit if I find I have too much or too little space?

You are welcome to move to another unit size, depending on your storage requirements (and, of course, the availability of other room sizes at the store).

Q: How much does it cost to get a unit from COMSTOR Self Storage?

Q: Do I pay weekly, monthly, or yearly?

Payments are due at the time of reservation and move-in and cycle monthly. We pro-rate on the move-in but do not prorate on the move-out. It is your responsibility to make payments on a monthly basis. We do offer automatic credit card processing free of charge.

Q: How can I pay for my space?

We offer a number of payment options including cash, credit card, debit card, and check. Payments can be made online on our website, over the phone, or by mail.

Q: How often can I access my space?

We offer unlimited access to your goods seven days a week 365 days a year, so you can add or remove items from your space whenever you require. Access is free for all of our customers.

Q: Do I have to pre-reserve a space?

No, you can reserve and rent a unit immediately by completing a reservation form by calling our office. However, to be guaranteed a room of a specific size on arrival, it is advisable to book your unit in advance.

Q: Can I move in today?

Yes, a member of our staff would be happy to help you during business hours, and then you can move your goods in straight away. Please complete our reservation form or call our office at 866.942.4933.

Q: What are your office hours?

Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.  We are available by phone at 866.942.4933 or by e-mail by using the contact us form. 

Q: Do I have to sign a long-term lease?

No, you don’t. Our rental agreements are month-to-month. Our staff will talk you through the contents of this simple agreement to make sure you understand the key points of what you’re committing to.

Q: How do people get things to your locations?

If your own vehicle isn’t suitable for transporting your things to COMSTOR Self Storage, we can recommend local van hire and removal companies to help. The companies we recommend are our trusted partners and have worked with us for many years. When you arrive at our location, you’ll find we offer lots of free car parking for customers and large loading/unloading areas.

Q: How high are the ceilings at your storage spaces?

Our units range from seven feet to over 14 feet in height, depending on the location your choose.

Q: Do I have to give you notice to leave?

We only require ten days’ notice of your intention to vacate your space.  After you provide notice, be sure to contact us when you are completely moved out, the unit swept, and ready to be re-rented.  Notice is preferred to be given in writing by fax, mail, or e-mail.  Unit rent is pro-rated on the move-in but not prorated on the move-out.

Q: Are there restrictions on what I can store?

You can store almost anything at COMSTOR Self Storage. The only exceptions are:

  • Living items, such as animals and plants
  • Hazardous materials, such as flammable liquids and explosives
  • Items that could decompose, such as exposed foodstuffs
  • Unauthorized or illegal goods, such as drugs or firearms

Q: Can I buy boxes and packing materials from you, and do you deliver?

Yes, we sell an extensive range of packing materials from boxes to bubble wrap. Packing materials can be bought in person from our stores or you can order storage packs online and have them delivered to your door. Also, we sell high-quality disk locks that we can hand deliver to your units before you move in.
